Terms of use
Effective date: 12 October 2026
These terms govern your use of joinsircle.com and the Sircle platform, operated for Sircle (Pty) Ltd (in registration), Leigh Ave, Sunningdale, Johannesburg, South Africa ("Sircle", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Sircle you agree to these terms and our privacy notice. If you do not agree, do not use Sircle.
Who can join
You must be at least 16 years old to join Sircle. If you are 16 or 17, a parent or legal guardian must give permission through our guardian consent process before your account becomes active. By confirming, they accept these terms on your behalf.
Give accurate information, including your real name and date of birth. Do not create an account for someone else, share your account, or misrepresent your age.
What Sircle is
Sircle is a platform that helps people connect around shared interests and activities, online and in person. Members create profiles and host or join activities ("Sircles"). Unless we say so in writing, activities are organised by members, not by us. We do not screen members beyond the checks described in our privacy notice, and we are not a party to arrangements members make with each other.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you post. You give us permission to store, show and share it within Sircle as needed to run the service. Do not post content that is unlawful, harmful or misleading, or that you have no right to share, including photos of other people without their permission. We may remove content that breaks these terms.
Behaviour
- Treat people with respect. No harassment, hate speech, threats, bullying or discrimination.
- No sexual or romantic content directed at or involving minors, ever. We will report suspected child exploitation to the authorities.
- No scams, spam, or advertising or selling without our written permission.
- No fake profiles, impersonation, or lying about your age or identity.
- Follow the law and the host's stated rules at any activity you attend.
Meeting people and safety
In-person activities are arranged between members. Sircle asks members for a profile with a real photo of themselves, shows a street-level location rather than a home address, and only allows Sircles to be hosted in public places. We do not vet members, hosts or venues, and we cannot guarantee anyone's behaviour or that these measures will prevent every problem. Take normal precautions: meet in public places, tell someone where you are going, and leave if you feel unsafe. For members under 18, we tell their parent or guardian by email when the member creates or joins a Sircle, and we encourage them to help choose activities and to be involved in attending them.
Report concerns to support@joinsircle.com. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the police first.
Accounts and closure
You can close your account at any time by emailing support@joinsircle.com. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, where the law requires it, or to protect members. For members under 18, withdrawal of guardian consent closes the account as described in the privacy notice.
Our responsibility
Sircle is provided "as is". We do not promise it will always be available, accurate or uninterrupted. To the extent allowed by South African law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for what members say, post or do, online or at activities. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including under the Consumer Protection Act.
Changes, law and contact
We may update these terms and will show the current version with its effective date. We will flag material changes on the site. South African law governs these terms, and disputes go to the South African courts.
